The River Edge is located in central Bergen County, and is bordered to the east by the Hackensack River. It is surrounded by Oradell to the north, the Paramus to the west, Hackensack to the south. 

Riveredge was incorporated as a borough by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on June 30, 1894 as the Borough of Riveredge from portions of Midland Township, Bergen County, New Jersey

It contains a total of 1.89 square miles of land. Access to major highways, transportation centers, and regional employment, are within a two mile radius. Schools, area Hospitals, and Places of Worship are within a similar distance from the subject. 

The River Edge train station and bus transportation providing service to the New York metropolitan area are within walking distance of homes.  The 2006 Census estimate was 10,862.  The 2005 population estimates represents a minimal decrease from the 2000 levels, which is consistent with the Bergen County trends.  It is expected to continue in the next decade by 0.2% as illustrated below.
